Environmental Affairs Manager

 

The Green Earth (TGE), a local green charity, is looking for a new teammate who is passionate and capable to bring about changes to address the most pressing environmental issues confronting humankind today.

 

The campaign team in TGE is responsible for the development and implementation of environmental initiatives and campaigns to safeguard the environment. The Manager will act as a team leader to achieve the organization’s mission and vision.


Key objectives of the post:

  • To deliver the organization’s mission and vision through developing and implementing environmental campaigns and communications strategies
  • To develop and oversee the development of annual campaign plan and strategies
  • To liaise and build relationships with stakeholders in the government, the business sector, academia, media, community and other sectors to achieve campaign objectives and further strengthen the credibility of the organization for achieving greater environmental benefits
  • To explore and maintain up-to-date knowledge and information of environmental affairs
  • To offer support to project teams in developing communications and education strategies
  • To plan, develop and manage content on social media platforms and publicity of TGE
  • To raise the profile of TGE further in society

Requirements:

  • Passionate about making a difference to the environment. Had a strong belief on the vision and mission of The Green Earth (http://greenearth.org.hk)
  • A Bachelor's degree or above in Environment, Communication, Public Administration or other related disciplines
  • Strategic thinking and experienced in environmental topics such as waste management, climate and energy, etc
  • Experienced in campaigning and/or other professional experiences from the public policy, journalism and online campaigning sectors
  • At least 5 years of working experience, preferably in relevant fields
  • A strong track record of leadership in strategy and content development
  • Strong leadership and good team player
  • Self-motivated, to drive your own workflow and output
  • Good command in written and spoken Chinese and English
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese Processing
  • Knowledge of social media platform. Graphic design and video editing skills will be an advantage
  • It is necessary to work in non-regular hours in the evenings, weekends or public holidays

Researcher (Full-time/Part-time)

 

(contract period: from now to August 2023, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)

Join our fight to bring pleasant sleeping environments to people-in-need as everyone deserves a quality sleep every night. Currently, Hong Kong has no sound policies for controlling the most intrusive kind of light pollution—light trespass. Together, we quantify light trespass in our city and figure out a generally acceptable level and possible mitigation measures.

 

Scope of work:

 

To mainly work on The Green Earth's light pollution research project, tasks including:

  •  Plan and perform computer simulation of light trespass in selected sites
  •  Perform outdoor environmental investigation and data analysis
  •  Correlate simulation models with the on-site measurement data
  •  Assist in communication and community education work
  •  Other research-related duties as assigned

 Requirements:

  • Had a strong belief that your work can improve our environment
  • Agree with the vision and missions of The Green Earth (https://greenearth.org.hk)
  • Applicants with experience in environmental pollution modelling and on-site measurement is preferred
  • Applicants with the knowledge of DIALux, GIS and AutoCAD is preferred
  • Basic understanding of light pollution/noise pollution calculation methods
  • Those who know how to use professional-grade cameras for night photography and Photoshop to edit photos are advantageous
  • Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Environmental Engineering/Science/Management/Technology, Geography, Sustainability, Physics or Mathematics. Part-time Master’s students and lighting designers are also welcome
  • Good command of both verbal and written Chinese and English
  • Good communication skills, able to work independently
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese characters input
  • It is necessary to work in non-regular hours in the evenings, weekends or public holidays

Assistant Project Officer

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administration support and handle public enquiries
  • Assist in implementation of environmental education programmes, including administration support and materials coordination
  • Communicate with volunteers and organize volunteer events
  • Assist in preparing educational materials, publicity materials and publications to promote relevant green messages
  • Outreach and assist in outdoor community education activities

Requirements:

  • Passionate about making a difference to the environment. Had a strong belief to the vision and mission of The Green Earth (https://greenearth.org.hk)
  • Experience in environmental education and project management will be an advantage
  • Outgoing, sports/outdoor activity lover
  • Experience in communications and social media promotion will be an advantage
  • Bachelor’s degree or above
  • Good command on both written and spoken Chinese and English
  • Good communications skill. Able to work independently
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese Processing
  • Irregular working on Sat, Sun & public holidays
