Charity Woodland
About the Programme
The Green Earth (TGE) joined "Plantation Enrichment Programme" since 2016. Established a half-hectare of "The Green Earth Charity Woodland" in 2023, and we are establishing the second Charity Woodland in 2025. By planting more native seedlings, we aim to further enrich the biodiversity of Hong Kong Country Parks and provide a variety of food sources for wildlife. In order to make seedlings self-sufficient and enhance their survivability, The Green Earth will take care of the seedlings for years after planting.
You are cordially invited to build the woodland with us! By making a HK$500* donation, you will nurture one local native tree seedling and support our daily plantation work!

Each Charity Woodland donor will receive the following items as a token of appreciation:
1. Tree E-certificate (Feel free to write the names of your family and friends as a gift)
2. Electronic Charity Woodland Travel Map - to plan your outing to visit the woodland
3. Plantation growth records - to understand the health status of seedlings
* A tax-deductible receipt will be issued for your donation of HK$100 or more (R88 code: 91/14899)
TGE Tree Planting Day 2025
This year, we will conduct two Planting Day activities in May. Through planting activities, public can learn the importance of Plantation Enrichment Programme in ecological environment and understand our forestry work. Participants will not only plant native seedlings personally, but also visit the beautiful Tai Lam Country Park. Let’s make a contribution to Hong Kong’s nature by establishing the Charity Woodland.

The Green Earth Tree Planting Day 2025 (Buddha's Birthday)
Event Details:
Date: 5 May, 2025 (Monday, Public Holiday - Buddha's Birthday)
Time: 08:45 – 13:30
Tree planting location: Yuen Tun Country Trail – ‘‘Charity Woodland - Streamside Hill’’ (The tree planting site is located on a small slope and requires a 15-20 minute walk to access)
Meet-up and dismiss location: Tsuen Wan MTR Station
Target group: Adults who have hiking experience and are able to walk on sloped paths and stairs.
This activity will be conducted in Cantonese mainly
Activities:
- Learn about "Plantation Enrichment Programme" and local tree seedlings
- Understand the daily work of Charity Woodland
- Learn tree planting techniques
- Plant local native tree seedlings with your own hands
Fee:
- Donation of HK$500 (to nurture a local native seedling) + Activity fee of HK$300 (for one person participating in the "TGE Tree Planting Day 2024") = HK$800^!
- HK$100 discount for people signing up in pair (application must be completed in the same Google form) = HK$1,500^!
^The fee covers bus transport, insurance, tree planting guidance, materials and tools.

Date: 11 May, 2025 (Sunday, Mother's Day)
Time: 09:00 – 13:30
Tree planting location: Yuen Tun Country Trail – TGE Charity Woodland
Meet-up and dismiss location: Tsuen Wan MTR Station
Target group: Age 6 or above (The tree planting site requires a 10-minute walk to access)
This activity would be conducted in Cantonese mainly
Activities:
- Learn about "Plantation Enrichment Programme" and local tree seedlings
- Understand the daily work of Charity Woodland
- Learn tree planting techniques from our tree experts
- Plant local native tree seedlings with your own hands
Fee:
- Individual: HK$800^ (Donation of HK$500 (to nurture a local native seedling) + Activity fee of HK$300 (for one person participating in the TGE Tree Planting Day) )
- HK$100 discount for people signing up in pair (*application must be completed in the same Google form) = HK$1,500^
- Family: HK$1,200^ (Donation of HK$1,000 (to nurture 2 local native seedlings) + Activity fee of HK$200 (for two persons participating in the TGE Tree Planting Day, including 1 adult parent and one kid aged 6-17))

TGE Charity Woodland Tree-care Day 2025 (Ended)
Last year, on TGE Tree Planting Day, a group of donors planted local native seedlings in the 'TGE Charity Woodland.' To date, 500 seedlings have successfully taken root! To help these seedlings grow healthier, everyone is encouraged to participate in fertilising them this spring. The event will also include visits to attractions such as the "Yuen Tun Observation Deck" and the "Tai Lam Ecological Garden".
"TGE Charity Woodland Tree-care Day 2025" has successfully come to an end. Thank you everyone for your dedication in nurturing the baby seedlings!

# “Plantation Enrichment Programme (PEP)” was launched by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) in 2009. The Green Earth aims to encourage public participation, hopes to gather a group of green friends to establish the "TGE Charity Woodland". This afforestation work takes five years, including strategically removing aging exotic trees within designated zones, replacing them with native trees, conducting regular growth checks, tree-care maintenance (like weeding and fertilizing) and ecological survey, etc.
* The aim of this programme is to gather joint support in establishing a woodland and enhancing its biodiversity. Strong may hold while weak may be weeded out in the natural competition so the survival rate of seedlings in the wild will never be 100%. If some of the seedlings fail to survive, TGE will decide whether to replant according to the circumstances.
