Different users of trails values differently that some of them put naturalness first while some put safety first. Some say concretisation of trails may damage natural ecology and question this option as the top solution. Could “natural” comes along with “safe”? How could the two elements balance with each other? Instructors will guide volunteers to build natural and safe trails with craftsmanship.
“Repair Your Own Trails” Training Programme Phase I has successfully concluded in January 2019. With the guidance of endowed Prof. Hsu Ming-chien, staff from Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and instructors, 60 volunteers participated in indoor lecture and outdoor fieldtrip. They repaired eroded trails by using natural materials so that visitors can walk more comfortably on the more durable trails.
